Throwback to last January when we were honoured with the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Milestone Award for 50 Years in the music industry. The award recognizes music businesses that have flourished in a rapidly evolving business environment and have attained a noteworthy anniversary. It does not seem like 50 years, thank you NAMM!
Thank you to our family, friends, clients and students who joined dignitaries, celebrities and special guests to celebrate a half-century of Ottawa Pianos with us on Saturday, February 17, 2018.
Yamaha Canada along with members of both the Japanese and Italian Embassy stood alongside our very own Italian-Canadian founder, Diego Papalia, and his family as they cut an incredible 50th Anniversary Grand Piano cake and toast a half a century in business.
Ottawa Pianos’ long-standing charity of choice, CHEO, joined in the festivities. We held a raffle for a brand new digital stage piano, courtesy of Yamaha Canada, with all the raffle proceeds going to support Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Intimate performances took place throughout the day from a wide variety of groups and soloists while we all indulged in savoury & sweet treats honouring our special guests from across the globe.
The celebrations continued into the evening with A Grand Occasion at Centrepointe Theatre at 8pm. The Ottawa Chamber Orchestra with Conductor Donnie Deacon celebrated their 25th Year at the same time with a fantastic program featuring concert pianist and Yamaha Artist, David Jalbert.
It was a memorable and emotional day. We are so appreciative of the Ottawa music community for all the support over the decades. Each of you allowed us to reach this incredible milestone. Thank you!
